about
14 Cycles was recorded on a cold Sunday in November and is intended for quiet reflection or meditation. This 16-minute piece is mostly unmixed, apart from one track that features auxiliary percussion. The objective here, is to listen to 14 cycles of a loop, as it slowly re-records each layer to grow bigger and bigger each time.
As the loop records over itself, I slowly add new layers or manipulate various effects pedals on my pedalboard to create a fluid soundscape.
By the end, the loop becomes monstrous for several passes before it crashes out like a wave.
I'm relieved to be able to release this into the world as I have struggled with extreme writer's block for years now. Many attempts at writing have led me to the same end, so 14 Cycles marks the beginning of a new chapter for Kyoto est Mort.
